New Birthday Massacre video now live

Friday, September 3rd, 2010

The new music video for The Birthday Massacre’s IN THE DARK which I co-directed with M. Falcore from the band has now been released following a short period of panic after an unfinished cut was leaked in Germany. So here you have it, a week early but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The video is partially a homage to the horror movies of the 1980s, and discerning viewers will see nods to A Nightmare On Elm Street, Legend, Hellraiser and a couple of others. Hope you like it….

Directors Michael Falcore and Rodrigo Gudino flank The Birthday Massacre

This week I took part in the new music video for a Toronto band I’ve admired called The Birthday Massacre. The video, which is for the song In The Dark from their upcoming album Pins & Needles (out September 14 on Metropolis Records), was co-directed by yours truly and guitarist Michael Falcore.

The Rue Morgue Cinema crew lent their talents and expertise and we managed to get the entire thing done in a couple of days despite recurring fears that we might have to cut a scene. This was my first music video (and Mike’s directorial debut) but the energy was great and the footage came out amazing! The video co-starred Lea Lawrynowicz (from The Facts In the Case of Mister Hollow) and featured the practical effects of Rue Morgue columnist James Fisher who created the props. Walter Pacifico who shot The Eyes of Edward James was behind the camera and Rue Morgue Cinema’s Marco Pecota produced. The video is currently in post and is full of homages to the late great horror films of the 1980s.

Here’s a sneak peek courtesy of Sean Plummer at Rue-Morgue.com.

In other news, my three shorts will be premiering in Las Vegas! For the first time, The Eyes of Edward James, The Demonology of Desire and The Facts In the Case of Mister Hollow to be screening at the Las Vegas Sci-Fi Centre (Friday July 16 2520 State St. Las Vegas; 8pm-11:30). Details here. More news to come…
